Data privacy and the protection of personally identifiable information (PII) have been hot topics with the recent adoption of legislation such as the EU’s GDPR, California’s CCPA and New York’s NYS SHIELD Act. Data privacy and protection specialist Antoinette King brings an expert perspective on the protection of all data and how setting up a strong data privacy program can support business objectives and improve an organization’s market position.
This session will discuss how security professionals can drive conversation around data privacy and security with their organizations and customers. Attendees will learn the important ways in which the various legislations have synergy and differ, and how the legislative landscape impacts their roles as security professionals. In addition, you’ll discover the various technologies that help support the protection of PII while simultaneously improving security.
Antoinette King
Antoinette King, founder of Credo Cyber Consulting, LLC, has 21 years of experience in the security industry. She has held roles within the security industry that include Engineered Systems Specialist, Operations Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and Key Account Manager in both integration and manufacturing. Drawing on her 2+ decades of experience, Antoinette founded Credo Cyber Consulting in 2020 with the goal of providing her clients a holistic perspective on security, bridging the gap between the physical and cybersecurity domains with a focus on data privacy and protection.
Antoinette hold certifications such as Board Certified Physical Security Professional – (PSP), certified Data Privacy Protection Specialist (DPPS), and has her SIA Security Industry Cybersecurity Certification (SICC). Her degrees include Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, B.S. in Managing Security Systems, and M.S. in Cybersecurity Policy and Risk Management. Antoinette has published and presented on data privacy and cybersecurity in several capacities including Keynotes, webinars, and in person engagements.
Antoinette actively participates in many security industry associations including ASIS holding positions as Chapter Chairperson of the Hudson Valley Chapter, member of the Women in Security (WIS) Global Council, and Co-Chair of the WIS Publications Committee. She is also an active member of the Security Industry Association (SIA), serving on the Ethics Working Group, Data Privacy Advisory Board, and the Cybersecurity Advisory Board. Additional industry association affiliations include Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys), and InfraGard.
